Oakland, CA — Ezra Barany, Oakland resident & former high school physics teacher is helping to fund local Jewish schools with the publication of his first book. “The Torah Codes” is a suspense novel, which also features an appendix of essays by rabbis, doctors, and physicists covering the themes of the book, specifically, scientific proof of God’s existence and the female aspect of God. http://www.facebook.com/TheTorahCodes

In “The Torah Codes,” a reclusive computer programmer, Nathan Yirmorshy, works from home without being aware that his landlord is spying on him. When Nathan realizes his name is encoded in the book of Genesis, and that his landlord is part of a secret society bent on driving Nathan to fulfill a dangerous prophecy, he must abandon his familiar surroundings, open his heart to a tarot reader he has never met, and trust her with his life.

Ezra Barany uses this plot to illustrate that the Torah contains codes that can be analyzed to prove that God exists. “My goal is to reach non-religious Jews who find themselves disconnected from the Jewish community,” Ezra said. “I hope to generate discussion among the readers about the Torah codes, and inspire curiosity to learn more about Judaism.”

Many mathematicians and code experts, including a NSA senior cryptologist say that the statistical analysis evaluating the existence of the Torah codes is solid. However other scientists believe that there is no truth to the Bible codes. A part of the proceeds of every book sale will be donated to Bay Area Jewish schools. “This book is a page-turner that I found very difficult to put down,” reviewer Allen R. Cook of The Book Review website wrote. “A good book and helping a good cause is a winning combination!”

To read the first chapter, go to http://www.facebook.com/TheTorahCodes.
